What are you doing with your life and why?

Please, ask yourself this question.

I’ve seen too many people living on autopilot – working nine to five, eating, watching useless videos on facebook, and sleeping. Perhaps going on a week vacation once per year – all excited about showing off their perfect pictures on Instagram.

Really, why?

Laziness? Fear of standing out of the norm? Fear of death?

Personally, my dream is to travel around the world, discover places I know nothing about, gain all kinds of experiences and always keep growing as an individual.

Two years ago, this was nothing else than  a dream. I was 19 years old, studying at an upper secondary school and working as a waiter. I had some thoughts about leaving Sweden after graduating from school, staying in  Malta and work there for a year.

But then it hit me – Why do I not just do what I really want to do? I want to travel the whole world – no work, no alarms, and no time limit. Just living life and experience true freedom.

At first, I thought I was going crazy – this is impossible, how will I manage to travel long term without working? I will never manage to save up enough money to travel without being worried about my money.

My parents thought I was going crazy as well, “Travel the world? yeah right, good luck with that” my father said with a sarcastic voice. This made me even more motivated to go for it.

I was living with my boyfriend back then, and he had similar visions about travels. He had been traveling long term before, and he was the one to make me realize that it’s definitely not impossible- and actually not hard to make it happen.

Just to set a clear goal, I booked a ticket to Bangkok one year ahead so that I would have no excuses.

So I spent one year working my ass off, and saving as much money as possible. I had two jobs – in a restaurant and in an elderly care. How I managed to save my money, I’ll share with you in a different blog post.

I felt so damn proud of myself when I was about to leave Sweden. What used to feel like impossible became more than possible.

And now, I’ve been traveling around Asia for about 15 months and have no plans on returning to a normal life. Wisely, light, cheap and without a time limit.

This is why I’m here – To share my experiences and inspire people who have the same passion about traveling as I do. If you feel like traveling  cheap and long is impossible – I’m here to prove you wrong.

With that said – Welcome to my blog, and I hope you get something out of reading it!
